Botox and Neurotoxins

Name the neurotoxin product, then find its label
Botox is one brand among the neurotoxin products. Learn the exact product name ahead of the appointment. Then get its labeling and the consent form that goes with it, and read both for what they ask of you.
Confirm the brand, the consent form and who injects
Take these questions to your appointment.
- Which brand goes in? The category alone is not enough.
- Does the consent form name that product? If it does not, ask why.
- Who gives the injection? Ask for their title and license.
- What does the labeling say you should tell the provider beforehand? Write your answers down ahead of arrival.
- What should you do if something seems wrong afterward? Ask for a phone number.
Six question pages take one neurotoxin question each. Start with What is Botox? and Is Botox safe?. Then read Who's a good candidate for Botox?, the page on the number of Botox units you will need and Are Botox treatments painful?. Open Can I get Botox while pregnant or nursing? if pregnancy or nursing is part of your situation.
Check two society pages against the product label
Read the plastic surgery society's botulinum toxin page for the general outline. Then read the Aesthetic Society article on what really happens when you get Botox and mark each statement you want to check.
Neither page replaces the labeling of the product named on your consent form. Check each statement you read against that label, and take your marked-up list to a licensed clinician.
