How long does each IV drip session last?
Time the whole visit, not only the minutes on the drip.
Get the drip session length from the clinic in writing
Ask the clinic how long a session runs, and get that figure on paper ahead of the appointment so you can plan around it.

Time each part of the drip visit separately
A session has more than one part. Ask about each part on its own:
- Check-in and intake.
- The infusion itself.
- Time you are asked to stay afterward.
Then ask what changes the length, such as which ingredients are used or how it is given. Plan your day around the longest answer, not the shortest.
Read up on the bag's contents ahead of the visit. Open the Harvard Health article on IV therapy for vitamin replenishment and the Houston Methodist article on whether IV hydration and IV vitamin therapy really work to see how the treatment is described. Bring the UCLA Health article on talking with your provider before undergoing IV vitamin therapy to your questions about what changes the length.
Pin down the infusion time and the visit time
- Ask for two numbers: the infusion time and the total visit time.
- Ask whether you may leave early, and what that changes.
- Ask whether the consent form states the length. If the form is silent on it, ask why.
- Write the answers down ahead of payment.
What an unwritten length costs you
A length nobody wrote down is a length you cannot hold the clinic to. Have a licensed clinician confirm the details for your visit.
