What after-effects follow filler injections?

Learn the warning signs for your filler before you walk out of the clinic.
Get the aftercare sheet for your product
Two documents for your product list its after-effects: the aftercare instructions and the consent form. Ask for both at the consultation, not on the day of the injection.
Mark what each aftercare document asks of you
Read the two documents with a pen:
- The consent form. Find the section on side effects.
- The aftercare sheet. Find what to avoid, what to watch for, and when to call.
Then ask the provider:
- Which product was injected, and where can you read its label?
- Which effects call for a phone call to the practice, and which call for urgent care?
- Which number reaches the practice after hours?
Keep the warning list within reach after the injection
- Put the aftercare sheet somewhere you will see it every day.
- Save the treatment date and the product name on your phone.
- If anything on the sheet's warning list happens, ring the number printed on it.
Check the aftercare sheet against four safety sources
Read the Cleveland Clinic health library page on dermal fillers: types, benefits and side effects. Open the paper on complications after cosmetic periocular filler: prevention and management. Read the vascular occlusion explainer from the same library. Read its cheek filler page on benefits, risks and what to expect. Hold your aftercare sheet beside each one and ask the provider about any gap you find.
